In-app messages
A message is shown to somebody who has already opened the app. Unlike a push, it does not call out from outside but explains something at the right moment: it offers a first-order discount, describes how bonuses work, warns about maintenance.
How to open it
The rail, the App group, In-app messages. Two tabs: Messages and templates.
Two formats
- Bottom panel slides over the screen. Noticeable, but dismissed with a swipe. Good for offers and explanations.
- Centre window dims the screen and demands an answer. For the important and rare: maintenance, a mandatory consent.
The rule is simple: if the shopper can walk past without losing anything, it is a panel. If they cannot go on without answering, it is a window.
Who decides when to show it
The server hands the app the rules: trigger, audience and frequency. The app itself decides to show the message, which is why it appears instantly, without a request to the server at that moment.
Limits and caveats
- Messages have no impression statistics.
- Only people whose app is updated to a build that can show them will see a message. Older builds simply ignore the rule.
