Search and catalogue
What the shopper searches the catalogue with, and which words count as the same.
How to open it
Settings, the Search and catalogue group.
Catalogue search
The "What to search with" field picks the engine:
- Built-in search works straight away and needs no configuration. It understands word forms and a wrong keyboard layout.
- Yandex Search needs access keys issued in the Yandex console.
Synonyms
Dictionaries that tell search which different words mean the same thing. You need them where the shopper and the catalogue name things differently: "trainers" and "sneakers", "smartphone" and "phone".
Groups come in two kinds:
- Two-way: every term in the group is equivalent. A query for any of them finds products matching all the others.
- One-way: a search for the term is expanded by the given terms, but not the other way round. Useful when a general word should find specific ones while the specific word should not find the general.
The Add button creates a group.
Limits and caveats
- Dictionary changes apply to the next search; the catalogue does not need reindexing.
- Synonyms only work with the built-in search.
